Why now

AI is moving from suggesting to doing.
Agents that draft, schedule and send act on their own, and a policy PDF cannot stop one mid-task.
Knowing your tools is already a legal duty.
Since May 1, 2025, a federal civil rights rule has required hospitals that take federal funds to keep identifying the decision support tools they use that factor in race, sex, age or disability, and to reduce the risk of discrimination from each one.¹
Accreditors are watching governance.
In June 2026 the Joint Commission launched a voluntary certification for how health care organizations govern their use of AI.²
